Heat treatments

Heat treatments are fundamental for giving metals the desired metallurgical structure and mechanical properties.

It is often necessary to determine the best heat treatment for a particular material. To do this, tests are carried out in laboratory furnaces, taking the mass effect into account.

Hammer has an electric furnace and a heat treatment station for conducting quenching and tempering tests.

A microfurnace is used to perform thermochemical treatments to identify particular metallographic structures (McQuaid-Ehn method).

This department is also equipped to conduct Jominy tests, with a treatment furnace and a cooling system. Lastly there is a tubular furnace for thermocouple checks.
